Awards

For more than two decades AFPC has developed and administered an Awards Program to recognize outstanding research, educational and service contributions. These prestigious awards recognize career researchers and educators, new investigators, undergraduate and graduate students, and special groups or individuals contributing to the success of AFPC and Canadian academic pharmacy. Awards recipients present their work at the AFPC Annual Conference and receive their award at the AFPC Banquet. The AFPC Awards Booklet containing the awards descriptions, eligibility criteria and application deadlines, along with archived current and past awards recipients are provided in this section of the AFPC website.

Information for Faculty | Awards and Nominations Book for 2012-2013

Please note that the method of submitting applications for award competitions continues to be by email to the Executive Director. PDF format is to be used for the files. This process has worked quite successfully over the past few years.

The awards booklet contains a new faculty award called the AFPC Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Award for Excellence in Research or Innovation in Assessment of Competence. The application deadline for this award is March 1, 2013. Co-sponsorship funding has not been received for two awards: the AFPC New Investigator Research Award and the AFPC Award for Excellence in Education. After some discussion it was decided to proceed with these two awards in 2012-13; however, there will not be any AFPC financial reward available (i.e., reimbursement for travel, hotel, etc). The award recipient will receive a certificate and be recognized at the awards recognition banquet.

AFPC has a financial policy concerning awards. For co-sponsored awards we will require a confirmation from the co-sponsor before the award is given. We anticipate receiving confirmations before the award deadlines and will notify faculty and students through AFPC Councilors if sponsorships are not renewed.

December 15, 2012:

  • Merck Canada Ltd. Graduate Pharmacy Fellowship Award. (Dean’s deadline)
  • AFPC-Pfizer Research Career Award.
  • AFPC-Janssen Award for Innovation in Education

January 15, 2013:

  • Merck Canada Inc. Graduate Pharmacy Fellowship Award. (Executive Director’s deadline)
  • AFPC-New Investigator Research Award.
  • AFPC-Award for Excellence in Education.

March 1, 2013:

  • AFPC-Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy Graduate Student Award for Pharmacy Practice Research.
  • AFPC-GlaxoSmithKline Graduate Student Research Award.
  • AFPC-Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Award for Excellence in Research or Innovation in Assessment of Competence.

March 15, 2013:

  • AFPC-Pharmacy Student Research Poster Award.

  • AFPC Honored Life Membership Nomination.
  • AFPC Nominations for President.

To fill out forms, the typewriter function in Adobe may be used directly on PDF documents. To work in Microsoft word, each AFPC Council Member received the Awards Book in word document format. Once the word document is complete, please convert to a PDF file prior to submission. Contact your council member or the Executive Director (Harold Lopatka) if you require assistance.

Submission of award applications should occur by Email on or before the due date indicated for each award to Harold Lopatka (hlopatka@telus.net).

Should it be necessary to use hard copy, please submit the original application and 4 copies by the deadline date indicated for each award to:
